John Stene is in his first year on the Seattle Pacific staff. He is a 2007 graduate of Pacific Lutheran University, with a degree in English literature. He did not play basketball at PLU, but did run track, competing in the decathlon.
Stene is a graduate of Sweet Grass County High School in Big Timber, Mont. He played shooting guard for the Sheepherders, and also played socer and ran track.
He went on to become a junior varsity coach and then a varsity assistant coach at Sweet Grass County. He also has 11 years of coaching experience at NBC basketball camps.
Stene is a Tacoma resident.
