SEATTLE (Jan. 10) -
Jojay Jackson hit a baseline jumper with 21 seconds to go as Seattle Pacific earned a key GNAC road win, beating crosstown rival No. 17 Seattle University 56-52 in front of a capacity crowd Thursday night at the Connolly Center.
The Falcons (10-2, 2-1) scored the final six points of the game, rallying to earn a road-win despite the raucous crowd. Seattle U drops to 10-3, 1-1 in the GNAC.
With the game tied at 52-52 Jackson drove baseline, rose above his defender, and calmly sank the decisive bucket with just 21 ticks on the clock. SU coach Joe Colero decided not to use a time-out, and Shaun Burl's three-point attempt bounced off the rim and into the hands of
Jared Moultrie with 3.9 seconds remaining.
Moultire calmly hit sank two free-throws to ice the game, giving the Falcons their first win on SU's court in the last three years.
Defense dominated the first half as the two teams combined for 12 points over the first ten minutes of the game.
Casey Reed drilled a corner three to give the Falcons their first lead of the game at 11-8 with 6:27 left in the half.
It was the Redhawks who grabbed a 23-21 halftime lead as Chris Gweth rattled in a three-pointer from the top of the key as the buzzer sounded.

Rob Will (15.4 ppg) was saddled with foul-trouble for much of the half and was held scoreless in twelve minutes of action.
SPU opened the half on a 8-0 as Moultrie and
Marques Echols hit back-to-back threes to give the Falcons the lead at 29-23.
SU answered with a 6-0 run of their own, capped by two-handed flush by Ryan Coldren that knotted the score at 29-29.
Gweth gave the Redhawks their biggest lead of the game at 40-32, burying his second three-pointer with 11:20 left to play.
With 4:47 remaining SU's Austen Powers drew the fifth foul on Will, converting a lay-in on a feed from Burl to put SU up 47-43.
But the Falcons refused to go away despite the loss of their big-man. Jackson drove baseline for an easy lay-in and on the ensuing psoession Moultrie banked home a deep three from the top of key to tie the game at 50-50 with 1:55 to go.
After the teams traded baskets, SU's Mike Boxley missed a wide-open three from the corner giving SPU the ball back with 42 second left setting up Jackson's heroics.
Jackson led all scorers with 13 points. Echols was the only other player to score in double figures, adding 11. Will and Moultrie each totaled eight points and six rebounds.
Rob Diederichs also added six points and six rebounds.
Burl and Ricky Berry each scored 8 points to lead SU. Coldren, the Redhawks leading scorer entering the game, was held to just four.
SU shot just 35% (19-53) from the floor, failing to hit a field goal over the game's final 4 minutes.
SPU travels to GNAC newcomer MSU-Billings on Saturday. Game time is scheduled for 6:00 pm.
