Throughout the school year, the Seattle Pacific sports information team occasionally will pose questions to various Falcon athletes.
What has been the best moment of your season so far? Was it a practice? A meet, game or match? A team gathering? And, why was that the best moment?

I don't know if I can pick out one best moment, because it has been such a welcoming and growing experience all the way through. But I do remember something small from an early summer practice. We were in Woodland Park doing repeats up a fairly long hill, and as I was running up, a group of guys were jogging back to the start. And as they passed, they all cheered for me by name, which was so encouraging. It wasn't a big deal or anything, but as an incoming freshman who didn't really know anyone at that point, it meant so much to me.

The season isn't even halfway over, but I already could write a list of memorable moments. One that stands out is a women's team gathering where we set personal and team goals for the season. It created a strong base to build our season on because it was a time for all of us to get onto the same page about our aspirations and expectations, and then specifically address the ways – large and small – that each of us were going to work on individually toward achieving those goals. The standards we set are high, and so we realize that we are going to have to place a lot of trust in ourselves, each other, and most especially God to have the season of our lives.

The best moment so far has been the winning goal in the game against Chico State, because we were in overtime, and Chico has a very good team this year.

Although every moment I have had with my teammates is amazing, the one that stands out in my mind is beating Chico State at their home field. At halftime, we were tied 0-0, and Chuck (Falcons coach Sekyra) gave us a really inspirational pep talk urging us to play together and keep our energy up and put Chico away. It really changed the whole atmosphere of the game. In the second half, we played so much better and ended up winning, 1-0. This showed me how incredible all the girls on my team are to be able to change the way a game is going so dramatically, and knowing that I'm a part of this is very special to me.

The most fun moment so far has been watching all of the guys (especially the new freshmen) working together every run to improve their times and help out the pack. Last weekend, we did an awesome trail run on the Snoqualmie Valley Trail, and a bunch of the guys ran more than two hours – pretty solid.

The best part of the season so far has been our goal-setting ceremony on the field. We talked as a team about what we wanted to accomplish as a team and how, as individuals, we were going to make that happen. It just gets us all on the same page from the start.

The best moment for me was when we swept British Columbia, the twice-defending Canadian national champs. It was especially exciting for me because I got to start, which is unusual, and I played all three games. We were huge underdogs, but everyone on the team came out with such energy and passion, and we all jelled together better than ever before.

My favorite moment was the Camp Casey team retreat. It really felt like I became a part of the team, and got to know the whole team really well. It's a great place for team bonding, and we had a lot of fun.
