GNAC All-Academic volleyball release
SEATTLE –
Lindsey Wodrich, a sophomore outside hitter for the Seattle Pacific women's volleyball team, has been named to the CoSIDA/ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District squad. She also is one of four Falcons on the Great Northwest Athletic Conference All-Academic team.
Junior middle blocker
Kylie Johnson (Tucson, Ariz.), sophomore libero
Anna Herold (Bothell, Wash./Shorecrest HS) and sophomore outside hitter
Paige Hoffman (Encinitas, Calif.) also are on the GNAC list.
Wodrich (Richland, Wash./Richland HS) was named to the CoSIDA second team for the College Division of District 8. The College Division includes NCAA Divisions II and III, along with NAIA schools.
A Family & Consumer Sciences major with emphasis on apparel design, Wodrich has a 3.66 grade-point average. The CoSIDA/ESPN and the GNAC academic honors are her first as a Falcon.
Wodrich, who missed part of last season with an injury, played in 23 of Seattle Pacific's 29 matches this fall, with 16 starts. She averaged 2.91 kills and 2.64 digs per game, posting five kill-dig double-double combos.
Johnson carries a 3.29 GPA in biology/pre-physical therapy. Although a junior athletically, she is a senior academically and plans to move on from SPU after graduating. Johnson played in 15 matches for the Falcons, starting 12, and compiled a .309 hitting percentage. This is her second year on the conference all-academic team.
Herold sports a 3.28 GPA in secondary education. For the second straight year, she broke the Seattle Pacific single-season record for digs, finishing with 614. That eclipsed the 579 she had in 2008. Herold was an All-GNAC second-team pick at libero.
Hoffman is a business major with a 3.81 GPA. On the court, she was one of just two Falcons (Herold was the other) to play in all 113 games, and started 25 of SPU's 29 matches. She hit .252, a significant jump from her freshman year mark of .169, averaged 1.59 kills per game, and had 69 blocks, tied for the second-highest total on the team.
