SPOKANE, Wash. – Jocelyn Charette, who registered her third hat trick of the year in the regular-season finale, received the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Athlete of the Week award for women's soccer, Commissioner Richard Hannan announced Monday.

Charette (Lakewood, Wash./Curtis HS) netted the winning goal in both games last week for the Falcons, who finished the regular season with a 16-3-1 record. Defending NCAA Division II champion SPU will begin defense of its title when the playoffs begin this week. The tournament field will be announced Monday afternoon.

On Saturday (Oct. 7) Charette tallied three goals to help SPU clinch the GNAC championship with a 6-0 home victory over Northwest Nazarene. Including one three-goal game last season, Charette has accounted for four of the 14 hat tricks in the history of SPU women's soccer.

The senior forward scored a golden goal in the 99th minute on Thursday (Oct. 5) at Montana State Billings, capping the Falcons' rally from two goals down en route to a 3-2 win. She helped force the overtime, serving a 77th-minute corner kick that Andrea Chan headed in for the equalizer.

Charette increased her league-leading total to 15 goals and climbed into the No. 3 spot among all-time SPU scorers with 31 career goals.

She currently leads all GNAC scorers with 37 points on 15 goals and seven assists.

This is the third time Charette has garnered the conference's weekly honor, the second this season.

Charette ranks No 2 among all-time Falcons with 15 game-winning goals. She is within striking distance of the SPU single-season record of 17 set in 2003 by Shannon Lovejoy and matched in 2007 by Sarah Martinez.
