Throughout the summer, the Seattle Pacific sports information team will pose a question to various Falcon athletes.
What is your favorite non-sports memory from summers past – vacation, family gathering, etc. – and why is that your favorite memory?
Jocelyn Charette
Women's soccer
That would be my entire last summer in San Francisco. There, I met one of my best friends from the soccer team we played on. We both randomly decided to go there for the summer without jobs (besides the ones we picked up off craigslist), so we bought skateboards and literally traveled the entirety of the city. The adventures I had were unforgettable. My friend has had an impact on my life, and she has helped me grow so much as a person.

That probably would be just back in the day when I could be a kid all summer and not have to work or anything – just play all summer. I miss those summers when I had no commitments or responsibilities, and I would just play with the neighborhood kids all day, every day.

Women's basketball
My favorite non-sports memory is spending time in Chelan with my familiy and good friends. And I love summer open gyms.
Jane Larson
Women's cross country/track
Hard to choose. I'd have to say the summer after I graduated from high school when I traveled by myself to Austria and backpacked for five weeks in the Alps with the Christian Bible school, Capernwray. That summer changed my life and gave me a deep-rooted love for the Lord, other cultures and people, and the mountains.

Volleyball
Going to my cabin in Montana. We have gone there every summer, and I enjoy being away and being able to relax. There is no cell phone or Internet service out there, so it's nice being away from that and being able to lie on the beach and swim in the lake.

Gymnastics
Some of the best memories are concerts I went to. I love listening to the performers, and just spending a night out with some friends is so much fun. I'm a huge fan of classic rock, and it was great seeing bands such as The Who, Rod Stewart, Paul McCartney, Foreigner, and many others. Also, I enjoy going to small clubs and listening to the local artists. It doesn't matter if I don't know their songs. It's more about relaxing with family and friends and getting to listen to some good music.

Every summer, my family goes on vacation down to Black Butte Ranch, a resort in Central Oregon. We ride bikes, play golf and tennis, swim, and enjoy the sunshine. I enjoy spending time with my family and being able to relax while still keeping my fitness up at the same time.
