SEATTLE -- Before running over to Brougham Pavilion to catch this year's Homecoming basketball games and other festivities, Seattle Pacific students, athletes, alumni and fans can take a run around Green Lake in the second Falcon 5K Fun Run and Walk.
The event is set for Saturday, Jan. 30, at 10 a.m. The 3.1-mile route begins near the bathrooms and crew house at the south end of Green Lake, and follows the main path clockwise around the lake.
The cost is $15, with proceeds being split between the SPU cross country and track programs, and Hope Runs, a non-profit organization that works with AIDS orphans in Kenya. Kids under age 12 are free. All participants will receive a free T-shirt while supplies last. Prizes will be awarded after the race.
The Falcon 5K made its first run last spring at Magnuson Park. The shift to Green Lake puts it much closer to campus and will allow Falcon fans plenty of time to get back for the hoops doubleheader and the assortment of activities in conjunction with the Homecoming and Family Weekend.
