SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sophomore Texie Gregory set a career-high score with a sixth-place balance beam performance Friday and Seattle Pacific finished third in a women’s gymnastics tri-meet at the Hornets Nest.

UC Davis gymnasts registered the top three all-around marks en route to a first-place team score of 191.525. That was a season-high score for the 45th-ranked Aggies.

Host Sacramento State, ranked No. 50, also posted a season-best with a runner-up score of 190.700.

SPU, the only NCAA Division II team in the field, ranks No. 54 in the national ranking dominated by Division I competitors. The Falcons compiled a team score of 186.450.

UCD teammates Tanya Ho (38.375), Kendall McCann (38.100) and Katie Yamamura (37.775) were the top all-arounders. Sacramento State’s Eryn Stubblefield was fourth in the all-around (37.400) and SPU junior Anissa Madrid finished fifth (37.125).

A product of Seattle’s Kennedy High School, Madrid placed eighth on bars (9.575), 12th on beam (9.125), 14th on vault (9.325) and 17th on floor (9.100).

SPU’s Gregory (Auburn, Calif.) received a score of 9.55 on the beam, bettering her previous best of 9.475 established in last week’s narrow home loss to UC Davis in the season opener.

Stubblefield claimed the vault (9.700) and beam (9.825) titles for Sacramento. UC Davis gymnast Tanya Ho was the top bars performer (9.775) and Sacramento’s Jasmine Lipka took top honors on floor (9.700).

For the second straight week, the floor exercise was the Falcons best event. SPU accumulated 47.25 points on floor, led by a 9.55 from sophomore Brittany Malone (Salinas, Calif.) who tied for eighth place. Sherah Veron was 12th on floor (9.525) while SPU’s two Samantha’s, Taylor and Wagner, tied for 14th with matching scores of 9.425. Aditi Kulkarni was 16th (9.35).

The Falcons top vaulters, Laura Willis and Stephanie Cabrera, each scored 9.45 to tie for seventh place in that event.

The Seattle Pacific gymnasts continue their stretch of eight straight road meets by traveling to Corvallis, Ore. next week for a tri-meet with Oregon State and Stanford. The competition begins at 7 p.m. in Gill Coliseum.
