SEATTLE -- Hannah Johansson scored 18 points on Friday night, and was one of four Alaska Anchorage players in double figures as the Seawolves came from a two-point halftime deficit and pulled away to a 69-50 victory against Cal Poly Pomona in the first round of the NCAA Division II women's basketball West Regionals in Brougham Pavilion.

Fourth-seeded Alaska Anchorage (24-4) also got 17 points from Nikki Adden, 13 from Tamar Gruwell and 10 from Kelsie Gourdin.

Cal Poly Pomona (22-7), the region's No. 5 seed, was led by the 12 points of Stephisha Walton. Jessica Duran added 11, and Reyana Colson chipped in 10.

The Seawolves went into intermission down 32-30 after Nicolette Brown laid the ball in for Cal Poly Pomona with nine seconds remaining in the first half. The Broncos also got the first two points of the second half on a pair of free throws by Walton.

But Anchorage then went on an 11-0 run to take a 41-34 lead and never trailed again. Gourdin started it with a pair of free throws, Johansson tied it on a lay-in, then Nikki Adden put the Seawolves ahead to stay on a 22-foot trey from the right of the key.

Pomona eventually got back within five a 45-40, but Anchorage then racked up seven more consecutive points to push the margin back to double digits.

UAA outscored Cal Poly Pomona 39-18 during the second half, limiting the Broncos to just 25.9 percent shooting (7 of 27) during the final 20 minutes. Anchorage shot 42.3 percent during the second half (11 of 26), and 35.1 percent (20 of 57) for the game. Pomona hit 32.7 percent (17 of 52) for the game.

The Seawolves will play in the regional semifinals on Saturday night at 7 against the winner of Friday's later first-round game that matched host and top seed Seattle Pacific against No. 8 seed Hawaii Pacific.
