Another Player of Week Award for Henderson
Falcons Guard Captures Conference Honor for the Second Straight Time
Daesha Henderson drives against Central Washington.
Daesha Henderson is the GNAC's Player of the Week once again.

SEATTLE -- Daesha Henderson has done it again.

For the second straight week, the Seattle Pacific women’s basketball star has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Player of the Week.

The 5-foot-8 Henderson (Snohomish, Wash./Snohomish HS) scored 33 points for the week, including 21 last Saturday night at Alaska Anchorage, to help the Falcons sweep their two games in Alaska and claim the conference crown outright.

Henderson’s performance in the 67-60 victory at Anchorage included the 1,000th point of her career. Then, just a few minutes later, she drained a 3-pointer from deep in the left corner that put the Falcons in front for good at 56-53.

She will enter this week’s NCAA Division II West Regional tournament opener against Hawaii Pacific (Friday, 7:30 p.m., Brougham Pavilion) with 1,006 career points.

Along with her 33 points for the week, Henderson grabbed 11 rebounds and handed out five assists. She now has 264 assists for her career, moving her into 20th place on the GNAC career list in that category. She is just two assists behind 19th, a spot currently occupied by former Falcon star Amy Taylor. For the week, Henderson hit 5 of 13 from downtown and 10 of 12 from the free throw line.

Henderson won the award last week following a career-high 30 points in a 74-48 victory against Central Washington on Feb. 27.

Seattle Pacific now has four Player of the Week awards this season. In addition to the two for Henderson, senior forward Sydney Benson (Snohomish, Wash./Snohomish HS) won it on Feb. 1, and senior forward Megan Hoisington (Bremerton, Wash./Central Kitsap HS) won on Feb. 8.
