Falcons Start Spring Volleyball on Saturday

Five D-1 Schools, Including Crosstown Rival Seattle U, Are On the Docket

SEATTLE – A pair of Great Northwest Athletic Conference rivals and five NCAA Division I opponents are on Seattle Pacific's spring volleyball schedule.

Coach Chris Johnson's Falcon women open spring play this Saturday, April 10, against Western Oregon at Heritage High School in Vancouver, Wash. It starts at 11 a.m.

SPU will play in tournaments the following two Saturdays. On April 17, the Falcons will be at Southridge High School in Kennewick along with Central Washington, Portland, and Washington State. Seattle Pacific plays Portland at 11 a.m., WSU at noon, and Central at 2.

Then on April 24, Seattle Pacific will be at the University of Portland to face the host Pilots, Idaho and Oregon State. SPU plays Portland at 10:45 a.m., Idaho at 1:15 p.m., and Oregon State at 2:30 p.m. The format is two games to 25 points and a third game to 15.

Spring play concludes on Wednesday, May 19, against crosstown and former GNAC rival Seattle University at SU's Connolly Center at 7 p.m.

Seattle Pacific is coming off a 17-12 season that included an 11-5 record for second place in the GNAC, and a trip to the NCAA tournament.

The Falcons begin their regular fall schedule Sept. 3-4 in a California tournament at Sonoma State University. Opponents will be Sonoma State, Chico State, Cal State Stanislaus and San Francisco State, with times and the exact order of matches still to be announced.
