COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Bridgeport won its third consecutive team title and Seattle Pacific placed fourth on Saturday at the USA Gymnastics Women's Collegiate Championships in Cadet West Gym at the Air Force Academy.

The Falcons registered their 19th top-four finish in the last 25 national championship meets.

Bridgeport overcame a 1.075-point deficit after three rotations with a strong showing in the final event. The winning score of 194.050 vaulted them ahead of second-place Texas Woman's University, which struggled on the balance beam en route to a final total of 193.300.

Host Air Force amassed a third-place total of 191.975 and SPU's score of 190.950 was its fourth-highest mark of the season.

SPU's top performance was turned in by senior Anissa Madrid (Seattle, Wash./Kennedy HS). She received the night's best beam score of 9.850 that is her career high.

Two Falcons registered top-three marks. Senior Bri Steigauf (Richfield, Minn.) had a career-best 9.850 on the floor exercise and junior Samantha Taylor (San Carlos, Calif.) posted a score of 9.750 on the uneven bars.

The Falcons competed in the four-team finals for the first time since 2007, when they were the USAG meet runners-up at Brougham Pavilion in Seattle. SPU won national titles in 1986, 1992 and 1997 and participated at the championship meet for the 29th time in the last 30 years.

Seattle Pacific qualified for the four-team final by finishing second in its semifinal on Friday with a score of 191.050.

The USAG meet concludes Sunday afternoon with the individual event championships, including 10 gymnasts in each of the four events. Five SPU gymnasts will vie for national titles, including Madrid in both the bars and beam. She earned the silver medal on the beam last year.

In Friday's competition, Madrid tied for top beam honors with a score of 9.825 that tied her career high before being surpassed Saturday. She matched her collegiate best on bars with a first-place semifinal score of 9.700.

SPU junior Corrine Wise (Seattle, Wash./West Seattle HS) will also compete for the beam title and Taylor is in the bars field.

A pair of Falcons are in the field for the floor finals, Steigauf and junior Sherah Veron (Broken Arrow, Okla.).

The USAG Collegiate Championships feature NCAA Division II members and Division I schools that choose to adhere to the limit of 7-1/2 scholarships. This year's championship field includes five Division I schools and three Division II entries.
