SEATTLE – Senior Sherah Veron tied for third place on the floor exercise for Seattle Pacific, which finished third in the team competition on Friday in the Washington Tri-Meet at Edmundson Pavilion.

The NCAA Division II Falcons registered a team score of 190.800, their third-highest of the season. They compiled season-best team totals on the uneven bars (48.100) and floor (48.600).

The 13th-ranked LSU Tigers captured the team title with a score of 196.450 and host Washington turned in a second-place mark of 194.975. They are both Division I competitors.

Lauren Rogers received a score of 9.875 on the bars to claim first place in that event for the Huskies.

LSU's Rheagan Courville won the floor (9.900) and tied for first on the vault (9.900) en route to a winning all-around total of 39.500. Teammate Jessie Jordan had a second-place all-around total of 39.400 that included first-place ties on vault and the balance beam (9.875).

Jordan was second on the floor (9.850).

The third-place floor score of 9.825 by Veron (Broken Arrow, Okla.) was SPU's highest mark of the meet.

“When she hits her floor routine it's going to score really well,” said SPU coach Laurel Tindall. “She's just got to have good landings on her tumbling because she has everything in there, and more, that she needs as far as bonus.

“Her routine was comparable to anyone else in this meet. I actually was expecting her score to be a little bit higher, like a 9.85 at least with the level of her difficulty and performance.”

The Falcons opened the meet on the balance beam and had to count two falls in a score of 46.975. Senior Aditi Kulkarni posted the team's top score of 9.750 and Samantha Taylor had a 9.725. Those were season-high beam marks for both gymnasts.

After the fantastic floor effort, the Falcons moved to the vault for the third rotation. They forged a score of 47.125 led by the matching 9.525 marks of seniors Veron and Lari Wilson.

A slew of injuries during practice this week had the greatest impact on the vault lineup according to Tindall.

“Our vault was tough. We had no idea who to put in because we lost both Ali (Tso) and Jenna (Dudley), our leadoff and our anchor. We actually pulled out a pretty good meet seeing as we lost those kids this week.”

SPU closed the meet out with a brilliant bars performance. Senior Texie Gregory topped the team with a 10th-place score of 9.700.

The Seattle Pacific gymnasts host their final home meet on Friday, Feb. 24. UC Davis comes to Brougham Pavilion for the 7 p.m. competition.
