SEATTLE – Junior Stephanie Wagner won the balance beam and floor exercise competitions Friday to lead a sweep of all four event titles by Seattle Pacific, which defeated NCAA Division I Air Force in a women's gymnastics meet at Brougham Pavilion.

Division II SPU out-pointed the visitors in all four events en route to a season-high score of 192.575. That was their best team output since Mar. 27, 2010.

"We had some solid routines tonight and it was a great night," said SPU coach Laurel Tindall, whose Falcons shattered their previous season high of 190.300 by 2.275 points. "It makes a huge difference hitting bars and beam like we did tonight."

Air Force compiled a second-place tally of 188.925.

Wagner (Estacada, Ore.) tied her career-high with a score of 9.825 on the beam. She led an SPU sweep of the top-five places on the floor with a career-best mark of 9.800.

A model of consistency on the beam for the Falcons, Wagner posted the team's highest score on that event in all four meets this season.

"Stephanie has been very consistent. She is a very calm competitor and really doesn't let anything ruffle her," Tindall said. "She's calm and confident, which I think is a great combination."

Seattle Pacific senior Lari Wilson (Rio Rancho, N.M.) topped the vault field and her classmate Texie Gregory (Auburn, Calif.) won the uneven bars with matching career-best scores of 9.725.

"It's great for Lari to throw her vault for the first time," Tindall explained. "We've been pretty consistent on vault, although having more 10.0 start-value vaults obviously is going to give us the potential for higher scores. We had three tonight, so that helped us a lot."

SPU opened the meet on the vault and totaled a 48.05 as a team. Wilson's score of 9.725 eclipsed her previous career-high of 9.65 in that event. Junior Jenna Dudley posted a third-place score of 9.650. She is a former Air Force gymnast who transferred to SPU prior to this season.

The hosts moved to the bars and collectively posted a season-best mark of 47.775. Along with Gregory (9.725), Dudley (9.675) and Kenley Memmel (9.550) established new career-high scores. Dudley's mark was good for second place.

The host Falcons received progressively higher scores throughout the beam lineup en route to a season-high total of 48.275 in that event. The five counting scores included Sydney Clark (9.525), Shannon Escarra (9.550), Samantha Taylor (9.675), Aditi Kulkarni (9.700) and Wagner (9.825). Kulkarni placed third on beam.

The final event was the Falcons finest with a collective 48.475 floor performance that was their best of the season. Along with Wagner's win, Kulkarni (9.750) placed second and Escarra (9.725) third.

Jen Larsen of Air Force registered the top all-around score of 38.100, including a mark of 9.675 that tied her for second on the bars. Her teammates Katie Hawthorne (37.975) and Linnaea Hance (37.550) finished two-three in the all-around.

SPU did not have an individual that entered all four events.

The Seattle Pacific gymnasts embark on a two-meet road trip next weekend. They visit Illinois State on Friday and Illinois-Chicago on Saturday.
