BELMONT, Calif. – Nikki Lowell and Ellie Britt came up big again for the Seattle Pacific Falcons. And this time, freshman Lexi Biondi joined them.

Lowell slammed a season-high 16 kills, Britt posted the second-double-double of her career, and Biondi put down 12 kills on Friday morning as the Falcons opened the Route 92 Showdown volleyball tournament with a 3-1 victory against Holy Names.

Scores in Walter Gleasen Gym on the campus of Notre Dame de Namur University were 25-14, 27-25, 20-25, 25-18.

Senior middle blocker Lowell (Claremont, Calif.) hit .290 for the match, and also had three block assists and a service ace. That gave her 18½ points, putting her 996 for her career. She had six of her kills in the final game.

Sophomore outside hitter Britt (Orange, Calif.) had 14 kills and 12 digs, giving her two double-doubles in two weeks. She also had two of SPU's four service aces. Britt got the first double-double of her career in last Saturday's five-victory against then-No. 14 Cal State San Bernardino.

Outside hitter Biondi (Albuquerque, N.M.) played just one game last week in San Bernardino. But she was a starter on Friday morning and hit .147 for the match.

Junior setter Kendall Langdon (Irvine, Calif.) racked up a career-high 26 assists, beating the 25 she had in a four-game victory against Cal Poly Pomona last Friday. Junior Sara Biondi (Sacramento, Calif.) added 21 assists, and also put down the match-clinching kill.

Seattle Pacific (3-2) led from start to finish in the opening game, once by as many as 11 points at 18-7. Holy Names (0-5) appeared on its way to victory in the second game, up 24-19 and serving.

But the Falcons stormed back with six straight points. They got sideout on a kill by Lowell, and junior libero Brianna Leenders took over the serve at 20-24. Then Madi Cavell, Lexi Biondi, Sara Biondi, Lowell, and Lexi Biondi hammered consecutive kills for a 25-24 Falcons lead. The Hawks tied it at 25-25 on an attack error. But a kill by Cavell and a solo block by Britt gave SPU the final two points.

Holy Names led throughout the third game. Seattle Pacific ran off four straight points early in Game 4 for a 5-2 lead and stretched it out from there.

The Falcons hit .190 for the match with a season-high 58 kills. They limited Holy Names to .053 hitting, keeping an opponent below .100 for the first time this season and below .200 for the fourth straight match.
