Academy of Art comes back to win

After dropping Game 1, Urban Knights take the next three to finish off Fairbanks

SEATTLE – Melissa Brum had a double-double of 10 kills and 10 digs, and freshman Stine Raben led the way with 16 kills as Academy of Art bounced back from a first-game loss to beat Alaska Fairbanks in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference-Pacific West Crossover Volleyball Tournament on Thursday night.
                                            
Scores in Brougham Pavilion were 16-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-14.
 
Stine hit .351 for the match, with just three errors on 37 attacks. Isabel Emrich had eight kills and hit .429. Kabrina Speakerman came up with 16 digs for the UrbanKnights (4-2), and Rachael Smith had 41 assists.
 
Alaska Fairbanks (0-5) got 11 kills apiece from Riley Podowica and Sam Harthun. Podowicz hit a team-leading .421 (11 kills-3 errors-19 attacks). Kensey Mix added eight kills and five blocks, one of them solo.
 
JenniferMorris and Miranda Grieser earned 16 assists apiece, and Meagan Olsen recorded 16 digs.
 
Academy of Art hit .209 for the match (45-21-115). Fairbanks hit .160.
 
Both teams return for one match on Friday. The Nanooks face Hawaii Pacific at 11:15 a.m. The Urban Knights take on host Seattle Pacific at 1:30 p.m. The tournament concludes on Saturday.
