Hackett's big performance fuels Cal Baptist

Sophomore has18 kills, 14 digs in just 3 games as Lancers sweep Simon Fraser

SEATTLE – Lauren Hackett put together a double-double of 18 kills and 14 digs – and did it in just three games – as California Baptist powered past Simon Fraser in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference-Pacific West Crossover Volleyball Tournament on Friday afternoon.
 
Scores in Seattle Pacific's Brougham Pavilion were 25-17, 25-22, 25-16.
 
Hackett, a sophomore outside hitter who hails from nearby Kentwood High School in the suburb of Covington just southeast of Seattle, hit a stratospheric .567 in the match. She had just one error on 30 attacks.
 
Jenna Perry added 11 kills for the Lancers (5-1), who have won both of their matches in the tournament and will play one more later Friday when they take on host Seattle Pacific at 8:30 p.m.
 
Jordyn Sike racked up 41 assist, and Abbie Gortsema factored into six blocks, with two solos.
 
With Hackett leading the way, Cal Baptist his .318 for the match (49 kills-15 errors-107 attacks).
 
Simon Fraser (3-3), which pulled out a marathon five-game win against Hawaii Pacific on Thursday night (39-37, 25-16, 21-25, 32-34, 15-11) got eight kills from Devon May and six from Tessa May. Alison McKay had 13 digs, and Tamara Nipp earned 14 assists. Madison Power logged five block assists.
 
The Clan hit just .020 (24-22-98). They play two match on Saturday, meeting Academy of Art at 12 noon and Azusa Pacific at 5:00 p.m.
