Hawaii Pacific cruises past Billings

Recca's 10 kills lead Sharks to their second GNAC-Pac West sweep of the day

SEATTLE – Pomai Recca had 10 kills and hit .348 as Hawaii Pacific swept Montana State Billings on Friday night in the Great Northwest Athletic Conference-Pacific West Crossover Volleyball Tournament, 3-0.
 
Scores in Seattle Pacific's Brougham Pavilion were 25-19, 25-17, 25-18.
 
Recca, a junior outside hitter, made just two errors on 23 attacks. She also had nine digs and two blocks, one of them a solo.
 
Kasey Thompson put down nine kills, hitting .333, and Elizabeth Culpepper added eight. Culpepper also had two blocks with one solo. Teniks Wentworth earned 29 assists for the Sharks (4-2), who won both of their matches on Friday. They swept Alaska Fairbanks earlier in the day.
 
Hawaii Pacific hit .308 for the match (43 kills-10 errors-107 attacks).
 
Taylor Albertson led Montana State Billings with eight kills and played error-free on 17 attacks, hitting .471. She also contributed four block assists. Stormy Siemion slammed seven kills and came up with 12 digs. Kimmy Kirk also had 12 digs.
 
The Yellowjackets (1-6), who have dropped all three of their matches in the tournament, hit .119 (35-22-109).
 
Both teams finish up on Saturday. Billings meets California Baptist at 2:30 p.m. Hawaii Pacific plays host Seattle Pacific at 7:30 p.m.
