Jennings, Devon May have 12 kills each as Clan powers past Academy of Art

SEATTLE – Emma Jennings and Devon May recorded 12 kills apiece on Saturday afternoon, and Simon Fraser had two players hit for better than .400 in sweeping Academy of Art at the Great Northwest Athletic Conference-Pacific West Crossover Volleyball Tournament.
 
Scores in Seattle Pacific's Brougham Pavilion were 25-17, 25-20, 25-19.
 
Junior outside hitter Jennings hit .455 with just two errors on 22 attacks. Freshman middle blocker Tessa May hit .462 in an error-free performance of six kills on13 attacks. She also had five total blocks, with two solos.
 
Simon Fraser (4-3) hit .265 for the match (47 kills-17 errors-113 attacks).
 
Alison McKay had a team-high 14 digs, and Tamara Nipp earned 23 assists.
 
Academy of Art (4-4) was led by the 12 kills of Melissa Brum. Rachel Smith had 24 assists, and Kabrina Speakman had nine digs.
 
The Urban Knights hit just .075 (30-22-106).
 
Simon Fraser was down 10-6 in the third game, but ran off four straight points to tie it. Then, after forging in front 18-17, the Clan tallied another four in a row to take charge on the way to closing out the match.
 
Academy of Art split its four tournament matches.
 
Simon Fraser plays its tournament finale at 5 p.m. Saturday against Azusa Pacific.
