Falcons hit just 25 percent from the field as Clan lead all the way to win, 76-47

SEATTLE – Ellen Kett scored 23 points, with 15 of those coming from 3-point range, and Simon Fraser limited Seattle Pacific to just 25 percent shooting to beat the Falcons in a Great Northwest Athletic Conference women's basketball game on Thursday night, 76-47.
 
The Falcons (6-8, 3-4 GNAC) dropped their fourth game in a row. They were kept below 50 points for the first time since Jan. 17, 2013, in a 61-44 loss at Western Washington.
 
Senior center Molly Grager, junior guard Stacey Lukasiewicz, and junior guard Brianne Lasconia scored eight points apiece for Seattle Pacific.
 
The game in Brougham Pavilion was tied just once, that at 2-2 after the teams traded baskets during the opening moments. Simon Fraser (6-6, 4-3 GNAC) ran off five straight points and stayed ahead the rest of the night. The Clan had a 23-12 lead at the end of the first quarter.
 
SPU missed its first 11 shots of the second quarter and didn't convert a field goal until Lasconia drained a 3-pointer with 54.7 seconds left, as the Clan built a 42-20 lead by halftime.
 
The Falcons found some life during the third quarter, twice cutting the margin to 14, the last time at 49-35 with 4:43 on the clock, but never came any closer.
 
For the night, Seattle Pacific hit just 16 of 62 from the field (25.8 percent). Simon Fraser, which drained seven of its first 10 shots in the game, hit 53.8 percent (28 of 52). The Clan's total included 11 of 24 from downtown. The Falcons were just 3 of 13 behind the arc.

Seattle Pacific had a 42-29 advantage on the boards, with a season-high 22 at the offensive end. Courtney Hollander led the way with nine.
 
Arch-rival Western Washington visits Brougham on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. That will be the second game of a doubleheader, preceded by the SPU men against Northwest Nazarene at 5:15 p.m.
