SPU VIDEOS: Kristi Hayashida (balance beam)
Lauren Glover (floor exercise)
SEATTLE – The Lindenwood Lions will get a chance will get a chance for a three-peat.
Lindenwood competitors had the top score on two of the four events Friday night on the way to a final total of 195.100 points in the second team semifinal session at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships in Brougham Pavilion. The Lions edged Texas Woman's University for the top spot.
However, the Pioneers also get to return for Saturday's team finals after tallying 194.250 points.

Seattle Pacific made a serious run for that second and final team qualifying berth, but fell just short. The Falcons finished third among the five teams in the semifinal session with 193.775 points. That was their second-highest score of the season, exceeded only by the 194.100 they scored on March 11 in a meet against the University of Washington.
It also was the fifth-highest of the day among the nine teams in the two semifinals. SPU came in as the No. 9 seed.
Lindenwood and Texas Woman's will be joined by first-session qualifiers Bridgeport and Cornell for the team finals at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Purple Knights wound up with the highest score of the day, 195.575. Cornell checked in with 194.200.
SPU will have five competitors returning on Sunday at 1:00 p.m. for the individual finals. Freshman
Darian Burns qualified on the uneven parallel bars and the floor exercise, senior
Breanna Beltran also earned a spot on the bars, senior
Kristi Hayashida advanced on the beam, junior
Ariana Harger made it on the floor by tying for the highest score of the session (9.900), and senior
Lauren Glover also earned a spot on the floor.
Four of those five Falcons are repeat finals qualifiers after competing in those same events at the 2016 championships. Harger is the defending champion on the floor, Hayashida was the beam silver medalist, Glover claimed bronze on the floor and Beltran placed eighth on the bars.
Ariana Harger
Harger finished ninth in the all-around standings Friday with 38.525 points. In addition to her 9.900 on the floor, Harger had 9.675 on the vault and bars, and 9.275 on the beam.
Sophomore Andavea Alexander and freshman Ryan Henry led a big night on the floor that put Lindenwood in prime position to finish atop the standings. They were part of a three-way tie with Seattle Pacific's Harger for the leading score of 9.900. The Lions also had a pair of 9.850 marks, part of a final tally of 49.325 that was the highest total of any team on any event in either of the two semifinal sessions.
The Falcons tied their season-high floor score with 49.050. That included career highs for sophomore
Itzia San Roman (9.775, previous 9.750) and freshman Miyuke Matsune (9.675, previous 9.650).
Another Lindenwood duo – senior Aubree Horn and junior Kierstin Sokolowski – were part of a four-way deadlock for the session's high mark on the beam. They, along with Jenna Cashmore of Texas Woman's and Megan Ryan of Yale, all earned 9.825.
Breanna Beltran
SPU's Beltran shattered her career high on the beam. Her mark of 9.725 easily bettered her old one of 9.475, which she set just three weeks ago at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation championship meet.
Schyler Jones, a junior at Texas Woman's, posted the top vault score of 9.925, with teammates Mallory Moredock and Megan Gentry close behind at 9.850. Another Pioneer junior, Alyssa Kelly, led the way on the beam with a 9.875.
Of the five teams in the semifinal, Lindenwood was the only one in action through each of the first four rotations. That made the Lions the first one "in the clubhouse" with their 195.100. Texas Woman's, competing on the beam in the fifth and final rotation, had a chance to catch the Lions, but that would have taken a 49.275 total. The Pioneers finished with 48.425.
